That thing.

Tina and I have emailing about the pleasures of blogging and she told me a great idea about carrying her notebook around with her to record blogging ideas. It's like any writing they come to you out there and you think you'll remember them but then you don't and you come home and you're like, "Oh god. Nothing happens to me. Ever."

So yesterday I was walking around with the blog in my head and it was like that thing that Brooks described of why he stopped doing stand-up, because he felt like he was walking around his life looking for the joke in EVERYTHING. "Not necessarily a good thing." Hil and I were walking over to Sara and A.J's who just got engaged and we were going to give them advice on planning the big day. Hil and I were talking about the last time we went to Java Street and we were late, Hil had to go to the bathroom, her blood sugar was low, and she really had to go to the bathroom. "It was like I had 10 windows open to the very anger of my soul", she said. And I thought, "Oh God, I gotta BLOG that."

It all reminds me of one of my favorite episode of Cheers in which Diane is keeping a notebook of things people say and Sam is desperately trying to get something in there, but of course he can't. The other episode of Cheers I can never get over is when Cliff gets totally bombed on non-alcoholic beer and rips up the pool table in the back room.

It was beautitful thing to see the glow of the recently engaged. As well as the humorous bickering that follows shortly after.

I get what you mean about the potential pain-in-the-assness of looking for the blog in everything. For me, with the notebook - and even with just the blog - at least I'm LOOKING now. I'm historically the most unobservant jackass you've ever met. I miss all kinds of gigantic, obvious things that other people see. Now I'm like, I see you, thing. I see you, building. I see you, interaction. Blogging as route to mindfulness. Sort of.
